Greater Lawrence Technical School is seeking a dedicated Reading Specialist to support students in developing literacy skills critical to their academic and career success. The ideal candidate will have expertise in evidence-based reading instruction and intervention and will collaborate with teachers across disciplines to integrate literacy strategies into career and technical education (CTE) and academic coursework. The ideal candidate should also be flexible in providing literacy support through a variety of formats, such as small group instruction, push-in support/co-teaching, and collaboration with teachers across disciplines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Select, administer, analyze, and utilize a range of assessments to identify student needs, monitor progress, and inform scheduling, groupings, and instructional decisions. •Provide targeted reading interventions for students who need support with literacy skill development. •Support students' literacy development through various formats such as small group instruction and push-in support/co-teaching. •Collaborate with the reading specialist team on a regular basis to continue to develop the reading program, including the development of the curriculum through the use of adopted instructional materials. •Collaborate with both academic and career area teachers on integrating literacy strategies into instruction. •Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students. •Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with educators, administrators, and families. •Keeps current in best practices for literacy instruction and classroom management. •Participates in professional development and remains current in the field. •Any other relative teaching duties as assigned.
