Opportunity Overview

Breaking Data is seeking a Pharmaceutical Marketing Copywriter to join our collaborative and dynamic team. In this role, you’ll help translate complex scientific information and strategic brand direction into persuasive, audience-ready copy that drives engagement and clarity.

Roles and responsibilities

Copy Development and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform strategic insights into compelling copy for HCPs, patients, managed care audiences, and internal pharmaceutical stakeholders such as field teams and sales representatives.
  • Develop copy for a wide range of deliverables, including emails, branded playbooks, implementation guides, websites, social content, training materials, leave-behinds, and more.
  • Ensure copy aligns with client goals, brand voice, and regulatory requirements while adhering to internal processes and quality standards.
  • Provide layout input to designers, suggesting copy placement strategies such as single vs. double columns, iconography, and callout integration.

Team Support and Collaboration

  • Work closely with designers, project managers, and account leads to ensure content is accurate, consistent, and engaging across all touchpoints.
  • Participate in internal reviews and brainstorms, offering ideas to elevate the story, structure, and voice of the work.
  • Take ownership of assigned writing tasks and contribute actively to team collaboration and creative development.
  • Bring curiosity, initiative, and a solutions-first mindset to every project.

Client Communication and Brand Stewardship

  • Interpret client briefs, annotated decks, and strategic direction to develop brand-aligned and audience-appropriate content.
  • Join internal and client-facing meetings to absorb nuance, tone, and technical background that shape your writing.
  • Edit and refine copy based on medical/legal/regulatory (MLR) feedback while maintaining clarity and consistency.
  • Uphold Breaking Data's standards of professionalism and partnership across all communication.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • Degrees in Life Sciences or Health Sciences are also welcome, especially when paired with demonstrated marketing copywriting experience
  • 3-5 years of experience writing promotional content in a healthcare advertising or pharmaceutical marketing agency
  • Experience developing and annotating content for medical/legal/regulatory (MLR) review, using AMA style
  • Familiarity with FDA promotional guidelines and pharmaceutical brand communications (HCP, patient, and internal audiences)

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong conceptual and writing skills, with the ability to craft persuasive, accurate, and engaging copy for healthcare audiences
  • Ability to translate complex clinical or scientific information into clear, compliant, and audience-appropriate messaging
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent proofreading and editorial instincts
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced agency environment
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and a willingness to give and receive feedback to improve the work

Work environment

Our Cherry Hill, NJ office offers a flexible and collaborative environment. We align projects with each team member's core skills, balancing fun and efficiency to achieve our goals and the goals of our clients.
