Position: JIRA DEVELOPER

Location: MCLEAN, VA – 5 DAYS ONSITE

Duration: 6+ Month

Job Description:

We are looking for a Jira Developer with hands-on experience in designing and implementing custom Jira solutions. This role focuses on developing custom plugins , extending Jira functionalities , and integrating Jira with other systems to support agile and enterprise workflows. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into scalable Jira-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop custom Jira plugins and modules using Java and the Atlassian SDK.
• Extend Jira functionality using REST APIs, Groovy (ScriptRunner), and Webhooks .
• Build custom workflows, validators, conditions, and post functions programmatically.
• Integrate Jira with third-party applications or internal tools (e.g., Bitbucket, Jenkins, ServiceNow).
• Develop automation scripts and backend logic to enhance Jira’s capability.
• Collaborate with Jira Admins to package and deploy new features.
• Provide technical design documents and unit test coverage for all development.
• Maintain version control and deployment pipelines for Jira add-ons.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in Jira plugin or app development using Java (OSGi framework).
• Proficiency with Atlassian SDK , RESTful APIs , and Jira Query Language (JQL) .
• Experience with Groovy scripting , especially with ScriptRunner.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and how they map to Jira structures.
• Experience working with Jira Cloud or Jira Data Center APIs .
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or Bamboo.

Nice to Have:

• Experience developing Atlassian Connect or Forge apps for Jira Cloud.
• Familiarity with Atlassian ecosystem tools like Confluence, Bitbucket.
• Exposure to front-end development (JavaScript, React) for Jira UI customizations.
• Knowledge of OAuth, JWT, or webhooks for Jira integration.
• Atlassian Developer or Forge certifications.
