Job Description
The Department of Mathematics at UMass Boston anticipates hiring one or more associate lecturer positions in mathematics starting in Fall 2025. At least one position will focus on our Quantitative Reasoning course. Renewals depend on performance, resource availability, and departmental needs.
The primary duties include teaching up to four sections (12 credits) of lower-division service-level mathematics classes per semester. Candidates are expected to adhere to departmental policies on instructional pedagogy and course coordination for multi-section classes, with opportunities to participate in curriculum development.
Required Qualifications:
A Masters in Mathematics, or candidacy for a Ph.D. or a Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field
Potential for excellence in instruction
Desired Qualifications:
Proven excellence in classroom teaching and course coordination
Interest in teaching foundational courses like Quantitative Reasoning and College Algebra
Experience or interest in curriculum development, especially for Quantitative Reasoning, Math for Liberal Arts, and non-calculus statistics
Success working with diverse student and faculty populations
